Mouser (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7)) Review
Mouser
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) (Super7)A common element in the TMNT franchise, Mousers are small, chomping robots who are used to solve the city's rat problem and/or commit criminal activities. But the real purpose of them is to get wrecked by the heroes in case there's no robotic Foot Soldiers around. While NECA put out a great set of Mousers earlier this year, Super7 beat them to the punch.

Does this little look familiar? He should, since it's the same Mouser we saw with the wave one Baxter Stockman. Standing around 3 3/8" tall, the Mouser's design is based off the "Wacky Action" figure from the original line, but without all those stickers on it, and since you can't just have one Mouser, this set includes three of them. The colors on all three are the same, including some nice shades of blue accurate to the original toy, but there are a few paint slip-ups here and there.

Even though I just said there were three Mousers here, there's actually five. Since these get trashed a lot, the two additional Mousers are retooled to give them a battle-damaged look. There's various cracks and holes in the head, painted scratches on the torso, and paint wash all around. I prefer the look of these over the regular ones, since the different finish and battle damage makes them perfect for photos and displays. My only nit is that those scratches could've been sculpted rather than painted, but I suppose Super7 didn't want to pay for additional new tooling. All five Mousers move the same, with swivel necks and hips, and well as hinged jaws.

Although the Mousers are really supposed to be accessories to the other figures, they come with a few goodies themselves. First, there's some recycled extras from past figures, with two of the same non-mutant turtle that came with Splinter, and a pair of sai recycled from Raphael. These sai have little burn marks on them, setting them apart from what Raph came with, and they can be slid into the holes on the damaged Mousers. Now we get into the new stuff, such as a rat wearing a headband. I assume this isn't Splinter, since he mutated from a human in his toy/cartoon origin. They also get a slice of pepperoni-pickle pizza, and a mutagen canister with ooze spilling out of a small crack. Lastly's there's a remote control, which you can give to Baxter or Shredder or whoever to have them control these pesky things.

The Mouser set is really just an accessory pack, but it's a fun pack at that. You're getting five little figures, along with a good amount of stuff that can be given to your other Turtles. That said, the usual $55 price is a little high for these guys (what am I saying? It's a little high for everything S7 makes), but places like Entertainment Earth and Big Bad Toy Store have them for much cheaper as of this writing, so gobble them up before it's too late.
