Write a Review link for that item. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) (Super7)After these recent waves, it's going to be a while before any new TMNT Ultimates drop. Okay, we got the glow-in-the-dark Foot Soldier shipping now and the "mutagen ooze" turtles should be showing up early next year, but it still gives us plenty of time to catch up on previous releases, including one I've been waiting a long while to add to my collection. Casey Jones is, like just about everyone else, a modernized version of an old Playmates figure, but I feel that the head on the original looks better than the one. I don't know what makes me not like the Super7 head so much: maybe it's the smaller eyes, the slightly different shape of the mask, or the rounded lines for the cheekbones, but yeah, not as good. The rest looks just fine, with all the little details have be recreated, including the lines on the arms and abdomen that suggest body hair. They also made sure to make the shoulder pad out of soft plastic so that it doesn't interfere with the articulation, so I have to give them credit for preventing that oversight. The paint is pretty nice, aside from a few marks. Casey stands around 6 3/4", and I feel that's a little shorter than he should be. The cardback for the original figure says he's 6' 2", and having done some math, it means this figure should be 7.4". It's not a big issue for me, though. Casey has the standard Super7 articulation scheme, which means not a whole ton of joints, but enough to get desired poses. He has a ball-jointed head, which sadly doesn't have a huge amount of range. The swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, and wrists, along with swivel biceps, allow for nice poses with his weapons, especially thanks to him having two different sets of gripping hands: vertical-hinged and lateral-hinged. He also has a ball-jointed waist with decent range, along with swivel/hinge hips, knees, and ankles, and thigh swivels. The left elbow and right knee hinges were stuck tight on me, and some hot water was needed to get them moving. The articulation is where my main issue with the figure comes into play. There's obvious gapping at the waist and hips, which throws off the sculpt, and I feel making the pelvis a little bigger would have remedied that. The knees also look awkward, as Super7 put the joint on the upper legs and above the kneecap, resulting in odd-looking knees when bent. I assume the design of the legs is why they did the joint like that, but still. The original Casey figure had two broken baseball bats, a golf club, and a golf bag, and that remains true here, but an unbroken at is now included, along with a hockey stick and three pucks. The club and stick are pretty warped, but I assume running them under some hot water and reshaping them should help. There's also an unpainted weapons sprue that are usually pointless, but this one I really like as it's modeled after a goal net, which is pretty cool. Lastly, there's extra hand options, including the two pairs of gripping hands, a pair of closed hands, and open hands. The hands have nice, big pegs, and swap easily. I'll admit, Casey's not a perfect figure, but he's far from the weakest one in the line (looking at you, April). If you can get past the awkward mask and poor blending of sculpt and articulation, he's a fun figure.
