Shredder Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) (Super7)Super7's TMNT Ultimates line is great, and the first wave's Foot Soldier was no exception. Of course, you can have as many Foot Soldiers as you want, but you still need a Shredder to order them around, and the second wave was the one that provided him. The packaging is just like what Leo and Mutagen Man have, but the slip cover is purple instead of green to show you that Shredhead here is a bad guy. Two plastic trays containing the figure and accessories are here, and everything is easy to get out like usual. The Four Horsemen's take on the original Shredder figure is a lot better than his 80s counterpart. No more weird squatting stance or eyebrows painted on the head, though there's an alternate head included here that does have the old look. Standing about 6 7/8" tall, Shredder is remade here in his shirtless glory, and the armor pieces are made of a softer plastic so you won't hurt yourself on them. The cape is softgoods, just like the old figure, but there's a wire armature inside that allows you to pose it, which is really cool. Much like with Splinter, there's a belt with velcro in the back that allows you to close it tight around the waist. And underneath that is another belt sculpted onto the waist, which is sorta redundant. The paint is very clean on this figure, with no noticeable issues. The articulation is great on him, and it's somewhat similar to both the Turtles and the Foot Soldier. There's a ball-jointed head, swivel/hinges at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees, swivels at the biceps, waist, thighs, and boots, and rocker/hinge ankles. Everything moved very well, with no tight or loose joints. The waist has a bit of tilt, so it could actually be a ball-joint, but who knows. The head has little tilt to it unlike the others in the line, but swapping them out is pretty easy. For accessories, there's two extra sets of hands to go with the gripping ones he comes wearing - fists and relaxed - and swapping them can be tricky, but not impossible. The sword, kama, shurikens, and fist daggers are all carried over from Leonardo, and the sword is painted differently, with a black handle instead of a brown one. An unpainted weapon rack is included here, as well as an alternate cape that's soft plastic. The accessory count is good here, and having two different capes is a nice touch. Overall, Shredder is actually up there with Raphael as my favorite figure so far in the line. With great paint and articulation, and a cool wired cape, the leader of the Foot Clan got the action figure he deserves. One suggestion I would have made is double-jointed elbows so he can do a proper two-handed sword pose like NECA's Shredder can do. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
