Aragorn (Pelennor Fields) & Brego (Lord of the Rings - Return of the King) Review
Aragorn (Pelennor Fields) & Brego
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz)As he leads his men to the black gates to make a stand to buy Frodo enough time to sneak into Mordor keeping sauron a eye fixed on him instead, Aragorn dons a more appropriate attire to show he has accepted his mantle as the heir of Isildur, but is not quite king yet. I like the design of this costume, I hear that Peter Jackson was very keen to have Aragorn in full armour like st his coronation but Vigo pointed out that this invetween costume would be a better easing into the role to show he’s accepted the responsibility but has not declared himself King yet. Moving onto this pack, we get Aragorn in his “Pelenor Fields” attire (called as such as it’s what he wears as he marches from minas tirith) and comes with Brego now in a more regal horse cloth and Anduril flame of the West the reforged Narsil blade. This Aragorn has those rubber legs that are basically articulated with a swivel above where the rubber starts and a knee bend, the upper torso is similar to the basic Pelenor fields Aragorn but he has a button on the back for that slashing arm thing. The cloth cape and kilt are a great addition, they make it better than the basic one, but both of the figures have this horrible open mouths scream design which is weird and encompasses one shot so it’s not ideal as a full time head. Most people swap out the head with the coronation Aragorn, but I’d recommend the two towers Helms deep one as I fre that’s the most neutral face whilst the coronation ones eyebrows make him look sad not exactly leadership material haha. Brego has your standard horse articulation and looks great. My only issue with this set is some of the articulation on Aragorn and the colour scheme. Time and time again people get the colours wrong. Gondor colours are black with the white tree and Aragorn wears black leather in the film not blue. In some lights it might look blue at times but that charge he does you can VERY obviously see it’s black. So I’ve done a post to show you what one can do to improve the articulation and the colour scheme and keep the softgoods robes which add so much to the characters look. Overall a ok figure the better of the two, even though his cloak isn’t more of a cape and he’s coloured even worse than the basic figure, so get this for the horse and parts of this Aragorn then make him more film accurate!
