Raphael (Undercover)Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007It didn't take long for Super7 to start integrating some of the deeper cuts of the TMNT line into their world of Ultimates. Scratch was the first of them, and now there's a couple other lesser-known characters and variants. One of those variants is Raphael from the "Undercover Turtles" subline from 1994, and they managed to get him complete and into customers' hands in under a year.
I'm pretty sure the main reason it didn't take Super7 as long to produce him is because of all the reused tooling. This figure is 90% the same sculpt as the regular Raphael, with the main difference being the paint as I'll discuss below. The default head is a "modern" one, and it's almost the exact same as what they did with the previous Raphael, but the bandana tail hangs down instead of flowing to the side,...[

RMaster007It's been a good while since we've last got some of Super7's TMNT Ultimates in-hand, and the wait was a lot longer than we thought. Wave 5 was supposed to be out back in March, but we all know how delayed S7 products can get. That wave has already gotten in some reviewers' hands, and should be hitting customers and retailers very soon, but the first new release actually comes from wave 6, and it's my most anticipated release from the line: Slash.
Super7 continues to use the same packaging for their Ultimates; a trapezoidal window box with a slipcover. It looks pretty nice thanks to all the unique graphics, and it's not hard to get everything out of it. Slash gets a larger box than usual, just like Muckman, so try to make room for it.
I'm fairly certain Four Horsemen are still doing the...[

Mondo GeckoTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007Crazy how just like Muckman, we got two new Mondo Gecko figures in 2021. One by NECA, and one by Super7. Is the latter trying to compete with the former? I don’t think they are, but their takes were revealed months after NECA’s were, but I guess that’s just coincidence.
The sculpt, done once again by Four Horsemen, is an updated version of the original Mondo by Playmates, but very little’s been changed about his design. The only real differences are the lack of the blue stripe running down the middle of his face and the redone skull and crossbones on his shirt. Everything else is still here; the bumpy skin, braces, wild tongue sticking out where a tooth used to be, all the same. Still, it looks just as nice, if not better, than the original. It’s worth noting that we got two head sculpts...[

Muckman & Joe EyeballTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007Man, I’m just getting these S7 Turtles like crazy, huh? I’ve gotten almost everyone they made so far, with only three left to get for now. One of my recent grabs from the line is Muckman, and to be honest, when they first revealed wave four, I wasn’t too into him (tentacle beard creeped me out), but following all the praise he’s gotten, I knew I had to get him. Good thing Third Eye gets in Super7 regularly.
The box is same as usual, but it’s a bit larger this time around, mainly due to Muckman’s size. And lord almighty, he is a big guy, standing around 7 ½” tall. As far as I’m concerned, he’s not quite as tall as Bebop and Rocksteady, but he’s still a rather bulky figure. Muckman’s covered in all sorts of junk, bugs, worms, bones, and slime, but so was the original figure. Here, however,...[

DonatelloTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007Just last month, Super7 finally put out the fourth Ninja Turtle (and the second-best one), Donatello. Finally nice to have them all within the span of two years, huh?
The packaging is the same as always, so I’m just going to move on to the figure. Donatello stands around 6" tall and uses the same base body as his brothers, with the only differences being the heads and belt. And when I say heads, I mean that we get two different ones just like the past Turtles. There’s the “classic” head, with a wide grimace, and a “modern” head with a closed mouth and an expression that’s generally more stern than angry. Out of all the alternate heads with the turtles, this one is my favorite because of how well the expression suits him. The belt is really more of a harness, with a holster in the back...[

RMaster007Man, the first month of 2022 isn’t over yet and I already got four new Super7 TMNT figures? That’s definitely a sign of addiction. I mentioned in my April review that I was waiting on two more to arrive from BBTS, and they arrived not too long after. And then I happened to find another figure at the same place I got April. Time to review one of my latest additions, Michelangelo, the party loving turtle.
The packaging is same as the rest of S7’s ultimates, so no point in talking about the same thing, but the sculpt is also mostly reuse as well, with the only differences being the head and belt. Michelangelo has two different head options, just like the previous two turtles, with a classic and modern portrait. However, I don’t really like the modern head. While it’s a happy expression...[

RMaster007A new year is here and there’s plenty to look forward to from all the various toy companies, but one I feel I’ll be getting the most from is Super7. Aside from the continuing TMNT and Thundercats ULTIMATES, they got a lot of new licenses coming for 2022, including Transformers, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, and my personal favorite – Simpsons. As for TMNT, it looks great. We got Scratch, the holy grail of OG Turtle figures, in the sixth wave, as well as the BBTS-exclusive Undercover Raphael and the supe-cool but super-expensive Party Wagon. I already got two current releases – Michelangelo and the recently-released Donatello – on the way from BBTS, but until they arrive, I just got April to keep me satisfied.
The packaging follows the same style as other ULTIMATES figures, with a slipcover...[

MetalheadTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007Looks like Super7 finally appealed to me with their Turtles figures by doing an updated version of one of my personal favorites from the original line. No, it’s sadly not Slash… but it is Metalhead (and we got Casey on track for next wave)! The packaging is the same-old, same-old, yadda, yadda, yadda… so let’s just move on.
Metalhead isn’t one of the Ninja Turtles, per say, but he’s still a turtle, mechanical or not, and he stands just as tall as them at 6”. His appearance isn’t too much different from his 1989 counterpart, but his torso looks quite unlike the original in which he actually has a neck. Everything looks just as good as before, and the head even has the translucent eyes and brain just like the original figure, in addition to an extra head with painted eyes and brain....[

RocksteadyTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007It hasn’t been too long since the third wave of Super7’s TMNT Ultimates began shipping out, and they’re not just available through S7 and other online retailers, a few comic shops have been getting them in as well, but the only two my comic store got are Rocksteady and Metalhead. Had to grab Rocksteady go with the Bebop I already have, of course.
The packaging is just like what we got in waves one and two, but the cardboard backdrop on the inside is different this time around. Originally, you had to pull that out to get to the figure, but here the top flaps up so you can remove the plastic tray more easily, and it’s a nice improvement. There’s also a single twist tie as well to hold in the figure, which is quite a relief.
Remember how big Bebop was? Well, it’s no surprise that...[

SplinterTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Super7) - Ultimates!

RMaster007It was an interesting choice of Super7 in their TMNT Ultimates line to have one of the turtles themselves in each wave, but even if there’s only one in the first wave, you still got to have their sensei/father figure, Splinter.
Do I even need to say anything about the packaging here? It’s pretty much just like everyone else in the line, and S7’s Ultimates in general. May as well just go right ahead and talk about the figure. The sculpt, much like the other figures, is based off of the original Playmates figure with some updated details. The tail is longer and pointier at the end, much like how it is on a real rat, and the head resembles the artwork on the original cardback more, with more pointed ears. I think some have said that his head looks off, but I think it’s alright. The detail...[
