Spider-Man (Toy Biz) Reviews
Vault Guardsman
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Techno Wars
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
I must have missed the Spiderman episode where these Vault Guardsmen came out because I had no clue who they were! They supposedly work as a kind of security force/prison guards for Tony Stark, who is Iron Man, so that's a good enough reason to like this figure. These Guardsmen stand at just shy of 5 inches with all basic articulation. They are primarily light green with black, dark green, and silver green accents. This figure is a lot like the ones in the Iron Man line. Like those, The Guardsman has removable armor pieces that actually fit on him quite well. The armor has small pegs that fit into small holes all over his body. The armor isn't chromed like the Iron Man figures though. It's painted with light and dark green to compliment his suit underneath. He has a chestplate and back...[See More]
Dr. Strange
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Spider-Wars
Rated 3.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
With a name like "Dr Strange" you just know they toy has to be good, right? Well... Strange stands at 4.75 inches with articulation at the neck, waist, shoulders (full-range), hips, knees, and ankles. He has black pants (that look more like tights), yellow gloves and belt-sash, and a light blue shirt with his symbol on its front. His resemblance to his cartoon appearance is fair. He has the slicked hair with white streaks and that cool goatee of his. His eyes don't have irises though, which is...strange. Dr Strange was decently muscular on the cartoon and gave the impression of strength, while this guy looks frail. His upper body is too small, with no muscle-tone at all, and his legs are a little too long, what went wrong?... Dr Strange comes with a nifty-looking crystal ball and a big,...[See More]
Spider-Man (Black Costume)
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 4
Rated 2.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
People all over the world loved Spiderman when he wore the black suit, and after he went back to wearing his original costume, someone decided to make a blacksuit figure. Great, but they did a very very bad job. Black Suit Spidey stands at 5 inches tall with all basic articulation, including full range of movement at the shoulders. He's dressed the same way as he appeared on the cartoon, painted all black with white eyes, patches on his hands, and spider symbols on his chest and back. The quality of the spider symbol varies from figure to figure. Some are clearly painted while some are blurry at the edges. Look before you buy. The eyes and patches always seem to be at an acceptable quality. The suit is good but the body isn't. The arms and legs are fine but his main body is large and...[See More]
Black Cat
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Spider-Wars
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
I remember the first time I saw Black Cat appear on the Spiderman cartoon and wondering who she was. I can't believe I never thought of Felicia Harding, one of Peter Parker's old flames. I mean, come on, 'Felicia'? 'Black CAT'? 'Feline'?...yeah, I'm slow, anyway... Our kitty poses prettily at 4.80 inches and has basic articulation at the arms and hips. I notice most female figures don?t have elbow and knee articulation, probably because the joints would blemish their usually lean bodies with unnecessary bulges. Luckily, Black Cat was made so that she doesn't need joints to be superb. She looks exactly like she did on the Spiderman cartoon, with her white gloves and boots, low-necked black cat-suit, and long white hair. She has one of the best hair sculpts I've ever seen! When you get...[See More]
Morbius
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 5
Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
A professor tries to find a cure to a disease plaguing mankind, only to have something go terribly wrong with his experiments and be mutated into a horrifying creature...where have we all heard that story before?...well at least Morbius was turned into something as cool as a vampire and not a giant lizard, right? Morbius stands at 4.80 inches and has all basic articulation. The detail on him is excellent! From every wrinkle and button on his shirt and pants to his silver fingernails and veins running along his arms to his long hair. The paint job is also very well done, although some of these figures do have a slightly blurry belt-buckle, but this isn't anything to complain about. On the Spiderman cartoon, Morbius usually wore bluejeans, black boots, and a long black trench-coat (which...[See More]
Tombstone
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 6
Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
It seems like everyone who falls into a vat of deadly chemicals, provided they are under a super-hero's supervision, gains some kind of freaky powers or attributes instead of dying horrifically and instantly, as the large red warning signs everywhere indicate. I just makes you want jump into a toxic vat right now, doesn't it? Tombstone stands at 5 inches of brawny muscle with all basic articulation, including the waist. He has pale skin, brown boots, a black high-collared vampire shirt, black wrist guards, and grey desert pants, the kind that bulge a little. Those are nice pants. And it's nice to finally see a comic book character who wears PANTS instead of TIGHTS. He looks just like he did on the Spiderman cartoon, although I can't remember if this is the same suit he wore on the...[See More]
Scorpion
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 3
Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Scorpion is a perfect example of the wonders of science. They took a short fat guy, stuck him in an experimental radioactive chamber, and turned him into a tall, muscular menace to society with an acid-spitting scorpion tail. Actually, he isn't that bad a guy, just an average joe like anyone else, but when you're broke all the time and need to eat, you're going to tend to rob a few banks. Scorpion stands 5 inches with all basic articulation, except his right elbow. He wears his light green and dark green suit and looks exactly like he did on the Spiderman cartoon, even down to that angry scowl he loves to do. The paintjob on the mask differs in quality depending on what figure you get but, for the most part, it's decent. His scorpion tail is well made and can move side to side. It is...[See More]
Dr. Octopus
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 1
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
It's funny how Spiderman's enemies all decide to wear bright colors, as if to tell the world "Here I am! Come get me if you can!" Dr Octopus stands at 4.75 inches with all basic articulation, including knees and elbows. He wears his bright green and marigold-yellow suit like no one else can. Though Dr Octopus looks fat, he's actually very muscular as you can see from his barrel-chested stance. The paintjob is good, and he looks almost exactly like he did on the cartoon. The fascinating thing about the doc is those thick dark glasses he always wears. You see him and you?d wish he'd take the stupid things off because they don?t seem to match with his suit, but once you keep glaring at him for a few minutes you realize that he would look even MORE ridiculous WITHOUT them. Fascinating......[See More]
Hobgoblin
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 1
Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Interestingly enough (or not), The Hobgoblin is not associated with the Green Goblin in any significant way. Why then does he share the same fashion sense and fly around on a glider like the Green? Maybe he stole some equipment and spray painted it different colors? Who knows!? I doubt HE even knows, but nevertheless he is still a threat to Spiderman and the city he protects. Hobs stands at about 4.85 inches and has all the basic articulation, except at the neck and left elbow. He wears a Halloween-like orange and dark blue/purple suit with a pumpkin bomb sack over his right leg (yes, he even throws the same pumpkin bombs as Green Goblin!). His left arm is spring-loaded and works like a catapult to throw the pumpkin bomb he comes with (which only works maybe half the time) which is...[See More]
Green Goblin
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 3
Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Although someone who goes by a silly name like "Green Goblin" wouldn't seem to be much of a threat, this goblin manages to antagonize Spiderman almost constantly! Gobs stands at 4.75 inches (and 4.90 if you count his pointy ears ^^) with all basic articulation including elbows and knees. He comes in his standard light green and purple suit, mischievous grin, and with his pumpkin bomb pouch sculpted on the left hip. He comes with one pumpkin bomb that can be placed in his right hand, and since his other hand is in a pointing position, he looks like he's chosen a target and is about to hurl that bomb for all it's worth! The detail is impressive on these Spiderman figures, and Green Goblin is a perfect example. Everything about him looks just like the cartoon version did, even down to the...[See More]
