DeaditorThere’s nothing wrong with this figure. It’s articulated enough and has a decent headsculpt. The only thing I would say is it does mean we don’t have a Bilbo in his more iconic look where he just wears a vest over a shirt rather than the jacketed look which is more outdoors or a travelling look. Personally I swapped one of these figures heads and legs with a traveling Bilbo and painted the waistcoat red with gold buttons and that did the trick. Going the actual figure itself is another nice addition to anyone’s collection nothing special but I can’t find any real faults with it, though an alternative head would have been a cool idea to have a normal Bilbo but that’s a more modern concept I suppose....[

DeaditorThere’s not much point getting this beyond completionist reasons, but by far the best aspect for me is this is where Jerry the barrel comes from! It would seem prudent to get 13 or more of these figures and then reenact the barrel sequence from the hobbit, but the barrels would be too small and require a lot of work. The figure itself isn’t anything managing as with most of the Bilbo figures the articulation is basic with swivel elbows I can’t stand and there’s 2 variants of this figure one with a darker coat which I find more accurate to he scene.so overall it’s not terrible or great but I do appreciate the barrel as a good display piece, so what does that tell you about the figure? It’s fine just not as good as a barrel I suppose haha!...[

Eowyn, Shield Maiden of RohanLord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Epic Trilogy: Two Towers

DeaditorI like that this figure was made. It’s nothing special but it is a good representation of a Helms deep Eowyn. The sword paint job isn’t as good as the pelenor fields Eowyn and the scabbard isn’t starched to a belt so it’s just loose appropriately so for when she brandishes her sword and has a little clash with Aragorn. My only issue with this figure is the one I got had a weak neck and had broken in places and the eyes needed a paint job as she looked nothing like her. It seems Eowyn is one of these figures with bad face painting details, though I can’t account for the purple dressed one, the only face painted properly was the coronation one. This Eowyn is super articulated though the dress obviously inhibits leg movement, but that’s not such an issue with her figure I feel. To conclude...[

DeaditorThis figure leaves something to be desired. I personally have found this figure extremely useful customising wise and it is the base to my gandalf the grey figure which is combined with each of the various Gandalf figures from the lotr and the hobbit. What you get is a fairly well articulated Gandalf with a rubbish glamdring but the staff is fine. The hair piece is stuck on his head with a hanging over his face design to represent the scene which is kind of cool and he has a base stand of the bridge that has a button that when pressed says “you shall not pass!” I think this figure is worth getting as it’s a decent representation of the scene but for me personally the parts I like are the body as it’s got the best lower robe and torso which if you then combine with the lower arms and head...[

DeaditorStep 1 remove all plastic toning and replace with a basic ringwraiths cloth robes. This figure is a mixed bag for me. It’s good in detail though it’s paint job is a bit off making him look dirty rather than intimidating and his articulation is very good but he is inhibited by large vinyl robes. As I said replacing these with a basic ringwraiths robes is vital and very easy to do. Other than these issues you get a sword the infamous flail and a flaming sword. The weaponry is great I just feel the gaming sword being moulded he way it is is smaller than his regular sword and painted too silvery rather than a darker gunmetal colour as it should be. Overall it’s an awesome character to own br needs some work to make it perfect....[

DeaditorThe hardest to find and most expensive of the lotr cardback figures. This figure is nicely detailed and well articulated but not perfect. For whatever reason he has a sword instead of his iconic staff sythe and the paint job is way off with an olive green complexion. This is easy to rectify it’s just worth noting. I think gothmog came out better than this one also as his ab crunch stands out s bit too much which I’m not keen on. Other than these minor issues it’s a great figure and worth getting!...[

DeaditorWhat a charming individual. Gothmog is basically perfect with super articulation and detail and comes with appropriate accessories of the sword he used fighting Eowyn in the extended cut and the pike he borrows to kill Madril. I suppose a question on size is raised as he is huge but as he was played by Lawrence Makoare (lurtz and the witchkings and bolg) it makes sense how big the figure is. It’s awesome and a testsbment to Toybiz’s Skill to make ever better figures. It’s a shame they still aren’t around....[

DeaditorA very nicely detailed figure with decent articulation and accessories but not without some minor issues. Variants of this figure have unstrung bows I.e no string on the bow making it not able to fire similar to the Hobbit figures bows and the head we are given is not the one shown on the instructions nor the production photos. We get a weird head of a blonde chubby faced guy with a moustache. I am not a fan of this head as it is not representative of the Gondorian soldiers. I think black/brown hair and clean shaven or some stubble makes more sense, this is why I’ve swapped out a few of mine with Aragorn heads, though you could use the gondorian ranger head. This figure comes with a bow, some arrows that slot into a quiver, a sword and a shield and a removable helmet so it’s not lacking...[

DeaditorNow this is really cool. Galadriel an elf witch in wrath. She’s well painted decently enough articulated and her light up eyes look awesome and aren’t inhibiting anything in that movement. One small complaint could be made about the large abount of windswept clothing but that’s what achieves her effect and besides it doesn’t stop much posing and could be replaced and replicated with a mesh material if one so wished to customise her. I don’t have any issues with this figure it’s just a really awesome piece and with the hobbit films having her do this again she fits in nicely with the new line also....[
