Gothmog Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Epic Trilogy: Return of the King Rated 5.00 stars by Deaditor What a charming individual. Gothmog is basically perfect with super articulation and detail and comes with appropriate accessories of the sword he used fighting Eowyn in the extended cut and the pike he borrows to kill Madril. I suppose a question on size is raised as he is huge but as he was played by Lawrence Makoare (lurtz and the witchkings and bolg) it makes sense how big the figure is. It’s awesome and a testsbment to Toybiz’s Skill to make ever better figures. It’s a shame they still aren’t around....[See More]
Gondorian Swordsman Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Epic Trilogy: Return of the King Rated 4.70 stars by Deaditor A very nicely detailed figure with decent articulation and accessories but not without some minor issues. Variants of this figure have unstrung bows I.e no string on the bow making it not able to fire similar to the Hobbit figures bows and the head we are given is not the one shown on the instructions nor the production photos. We get a weird head of a blonde chubby faced guy with a moustache. I am not a fan of this head as it is not representative of the Gondorian soldiers. I think black/brown hair and clean shaven or some stubble makes more sense, this is why I’ve swapped out a few of mine with Aragorn heads, though you could use the gondorian ranger head. This figure comes with a bow, some arrows that slot into a quiver, a sword and a shield and a removable helmet so it’s not lacking...[See More]
Couldn't agree more..The Gondorian Soldier could have been clean shaven to represent a younger soldier and an alternative Gondorian Soldier with a Moustache and Beard could have been available to show a grittier, tougher older soldier. Otherwise I think the figure and accessories are awesome. The bow strings were removed with many of the Australian release figures. This was to do with Safety Regulations regarding firing projectiles that could cause eye injuries.
Galadriel Entranced Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Epic Trilogy: Fellowship of the Ring Rated 4.90 stars by Deaditor Now this is really cool. Galadriel an elf witch in wrath. She’s well painted decently enough articulated and her light up eyes look awesome and aren’t inhibiting anything in that movement. One small complaint could be made about the large abount of windswept clothing but that’s what achieves her effect and besides it doesn’t stop much posing and could be replaced and replicated with a mesh material if one so wished to customise her. I don’t have any issues with this figure it’s just a really awesome piece and with the hobbit films having her do this again she fits in nicely with the new line also....[See More]
Frodo with Journal (Super Poseable) Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Epic Trilogy: Fellowship of the Ring Rated 5.00 stars by Deaditor A perfect nice little addition from Toybiz capturing that smile Elijah Wood gives when he sees Gandalf ride into the shire for a long expected party. Super poseable, comes with an opening book, the figure is well detailed and has a decent headsculpt, what can you say other than thank you Toybiz for gifting us this for us completionists....[See More]
Aragorn (Council of Elrond) Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Epic Trilogy: Fellowship of the Ring Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Toybiz are stars for bothering to make this with the addition of the shards of Narsil. I think the figures detail and articulation is fine I just have mixed feelings about certain aspects of this figure. My issues are the headsculpt is terrible, the colouring is a bit off, the figure has a sword with knife attarchmenf strangely added I suppose to make kids buy this Aragorn despite him not needing a weapon and lastly he’s too short making him stand out awkwardly. Other than that you get an ok figure. The sword is the wrong size, being similar to the Helms deep slashing attack figure that has no Elven dagger, and the knife he comes with is just the utility knife that strider uses for cleaning animals he hunted etc not combat so it’s strange we got this knife but a nice addition if one...[See More]
Bilbo (Prologue) Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 3 Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Other than having very basic articulation as most Bilbo figures do from this series, I’m glad we got this figure. He has a typical slashing attack and comes with a decent sting sword and the ring moulded onto his hand. The likeness is decent and it’s just cool to have something like this. Peter Jackson during his commentary for the first Hobbit was asked by Phillipa Boyens if he intended to put Martin Freeman’s scene in the prologue over the original scene and he said he wouldn’t as it still works and I totally agree, otherwise you end up with Hayden Christensen at the Ewok Village like Return of the Jedi which is silly and unessesary as that’s not how Luke remembers him or would recognise him. So yeah thank you directors like PJ having confidence in the viewer....[See More]
Eowyn (Armor) Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 2 Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor I owe a lot to this figure as a customiser for the hobbit Dwarves, but it is also just a decent figure. She’s highly detailed has a sword a removable helm and the spear Eomer tosses at the mumak rider for some reason. My only complaints about her is the vinyl skirt and cloak which are bulky and have a sometimes sticky gloss, her eyes are always painted off looking sideways so a headswap with the coronation Eowyn is something I’d recommend and lastly no shield! I know she just picks it up but still it’s iconic in design. Overall think this is a nigh on perfection figure with some minor issues that can be remedied....[See More]
Uruk-Hai (Crossbow) Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 1 Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor The tallest Uruk for some reason, hence why I've turned two of them into just Uruk soldiers by giving them the battle cry Uruk-hai helmets. There’s decent articulation not perfect and he holds his crossbow well, though his bolt pouch is too big and they tend to fall out unless you have multiple and pack them in. I don’t have too much to say in this figure, he’s the first Uruk figure I ever got and you can get him to hold a weapon, which looks better as he’s really nicely detailed and so much taller than he needs to be....[See More]
Frodo (Orc Armor) Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 1 Rated 5.00 stars by Deaditor This figure is a testament to ToyBiz’s dedication. This figure is well articulated, nicely detailed and has a removable helmet and sword. It’s nice when we get a figure of every iteration of a character essentially and this one furthers that evidence. Toybiz you were way ahead of your time and are missed greatly....[See More]
