Daniel was the son of Khylund, king of the jakarrans, and paleobonanist Megan Tsuchida. The jakarrans felt offended by the birth if a half-breed, so Kylund died ensuring the escape of his wife and son, who relocated in America. Marcus Langston found about Daniel and recruited him into Youngblood as Cougar.
