Muhammad Hassan, portrayed by Mark Copani, made his debut in WWE on December 13, 2004, as a controversial character with an Arab-American background. He entered the wrestling scene with his manager Khosrow Daivari and expressed his frustration with the prejudice and stereotypes faced by Arab-Americans after the 9/11 attacks. Hassan's gimmick involved interrupting other wrestlers' promos and complaining about being held back due to anti-Arab prejudice.

During his undefeated streak, Hassan defeated several wrestlers and gained a reputation as a villain. At WrestleMania 21, he and Daivari attacked Eugene, only to be confronted by Hulk Hogan. They continued their feud with Shawn Michaels and later faced Hogan and Michaels at Backlash but lost. Hassan blamed Daivari for the loss and faced Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship but was beaten. He also had a match against Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental Championship, but it ended in disqualification.

After being drafted to SmackDown!, Hassan won his first match against Big Show with Matt Morgan's help. However, his career took a controversial turn when he was involved in a segment with The Undertaker. Five masked men attacked The Undertaker, and Hassan put him in the camel clutch. This episode received significant media attention, and UPN decided to remove the Hassan character from their network due to public criticism.

Hassan lost to The Undertaker at The Great American Bash and was written off with a storyline injury.
