Thundra comes from an alternate future where women rule over men. She was accidentally brought to the present, where she joined the Frightful Four as Medusa's replacement, but she betrayed them and helped the Fantastic Four.

Thundra would later face Arkon, the chauvinistic king of the extradimensional kingdom Polemachus. After the Avengers and the Fantastic Four made Arkon and Thundra realize their feelings for each other, they became the ruling couple of Polemachus, each balancing the other's points of view.
